SAN JOSE BAKESHOP: MORE THAN JUST A BAKERY
Places to work and study are popping up all over Cebu! The San Jose StudyHub opened in October of 2018 and is located across from University of San Carlos – Main Campus. The StudyHub is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
- 20PHP/Hour promo free Wi-Fi
- 55PHP 1 Coffee + 2 hours of Wi-Fi
- 55PHP 1 Milktea + 2 hours of Wi-Fi
- 55PHP 4 hours + 1 hour free Wi-Fi
After we read the sign with the options available, we selected our bakery and brought our tray to the cashier. We chose #2 55PHP 1 Coffee + 2 hours of Wi-Fi. For our coffee we were able to choose from butterscotch, Iloilo medium, mocha, Sagada, caramel, or hazelnut. After deciding on Iloilo medium, the cashier gave each of us a key card to access the StudyHub with a Wi-Fi password. We quickly found seats and settled in to work.
The place is cozy and vibrant. It may not be big, but it somehow allows for privacy for students that are studying…
The cashier brought us our coffee and a receipt indicating the time we arrived and our key card number. The bright white walls and the lighting made the area inviting, and I noticed there are a few different seating options available, like you could opt for a table with a group or you could sit at a cubical and study.
WHAT STUDENTS HAD TO SAY:
WOTS: Why do you like to study here?
Chastain (1st Year at USC): I like to study at StudyHub because it is arranged in a way that will keep you productive.
KC (5th Year at UV): I like to study there because the place is cozy and vibrant. It may not be big, but it somehow allows for privacy for students that are studying.
WOTS: Would you study here again?
Chastain: Yes, I have studied here several times and I keep coming back.
KC: I would like to study here again because it brought me comfort and peace. Whenever I want to be alone or need a quiet place, I can always come back here. Also, when I am here, I can see people and cars passing by and just observe how the city works.
WOTS: What did you order?
Chastain: I do not order food or drink. I pay the hourly promo rate either 20PHP for one hour or 55PHP for 4 hours.
KC: I just ordered a piece of their bread. I forgot what it was called, but it looks like a loaf that has a lot of raisins in it.
WOTS: How did you find out about the StudyHub?
Chastain: A friend informed me.
KC: Well, I did not know about the study hub until one of my friends told me, and out of curiosity I went there.
